Dita Von Teese: the brand
Dita Von Teese is an American burlesque dancer, model, actress and showgirl. She’s been an iconic model in the last years, but her relationship with the world of fashion has always been beyond. She is a muse but also a great designer. The queen of burlesque has created a small collection of retro-inspired sunglasses in collaboration with Dita, the Californian brand.
“I have a very personal history with the brand. Founder John Juniper met me in 1993 and we became fast friends. He asked me if he could start a sunglass brand named Dita, which was the name I had been calling myself since 1991 as a pin-up model and burlesque dancer. I agreed and he photographed the very first prototypes on me”.
Dita Von Teese is known by her self-made style and the inspiration behind her collection was to create elegant and femninine styles with a classic flare that women could wear on any occasion. The sunglasses are designed with a close attention to the precious details and they are manufactured with the best materials, as is ussual in Dita products.
“The way to capture the elegance and spirit of vintage style is to understand that it must be done with a contemporary twist to make it current and sexy. This is what this collection is about: sexy, wearable eyewear that conveys high-glamour and elegance”.
This collection is composed by 10 different models available in many colours. Dita Von Teese has spoked about them and that’s what she said.
“I love distinctive, powerful – dare I admit – ‘intimidating’ sunglasses. These frames will let them know that you’re a feminine force to be reckoned with! I’ll be wearing these poolside with a black maillot de bain, sky-high heels and maybe some diamonds…Sunglasses are the quick way to achieve glamour. Day-to-day, I usually wear little more than a swipe of red lipstick and a pair of shades.”
“These new-style cat-eye shades were imagined for a woman who knows what she wants. I imagined wearing these sitting outdoors at a Parisian cafe and quietly surveying the scene for possible love interests,”
“These make me think of sexy shades that a glamorous French woman might wear to meet her lover for a secret afternoon rendezvous”
