Best Fashion Campaigns for Spring Summer 2015 (I)
If you’re a fashion junkie, you must be waiting for the start of every season to discover the new advertising campaigns by the most renowned designers. You might even know the name of the models appearing in every ad, and the photographers who shot the session. On the other hand, if you’re addicted to sunglasses you will be counting down the days until the moment the new models arrive in the store. Well, at OnlyLens we are both fashion junkies and sunglasses addicts, so it should come as no surprise that we are smitten with all the ads that are starting to invade magazines all over the planet.
But you don’t need to be a fashion fanatic to enjoy a good photograph. So, we’ve selected the best campaigns for this season, because we want to celebrate creativity, art, beauty and style. It’s springtime!
Julia Nobis, Natalie Westling and Lexi Boling are the three top models chosen by Dior to star in its new campaign. The photographer was Willy Vanderperre, a regular collaborator with the firm and responsible for some of the latest Dior Homme adverts. In a futuristic white setting, the girls seem “weightless (…) almost defying the laws of gravity”. A truly modern composition that shows the new line that the fashion house has taken under the leadership of the talented Raf Simmons. The sunglasses? Dior Technologic, the most avant-garde model for this season.
A fashion campaign with the names of Prada, Steven Meisel and Gemma Ward in it can’t go wrong. On the contrary, they guarantee success. The photography maestro has captured the delicate beauty of the top model along with the bold elegance of the sunglasses. The shades are oversized with rounded geometric lines and a thick rim. A must-have for next summer.
Young, happy, free-spirited and cool. The models in the Diesel ad look like they’re having a whale of a time! Nicola Formichetti, Diesel’s Creative Director, has created a campaign about tolerance and inclusiveness; to make a statement he put Winnie Harlow, a gorgeous model with vitiligo, in front of the camera. The amazing Nick Knight has perfectly transmitted the unconventional philosophy of the brand through his striking images.
Dolce & Gabbana are much more than designers. Their latest campaign, set in a fictional mixed universe that recalls both Spain and Sicily, has been captured by Domenico Dolce with the artistic direction by Stefano Gabbana. Their muse Bianca Balti is once again the star in the brand’s fashion and eyewear adverts. In some ads she shares the picture with a typical Italian mamma, who brings the humor and a traditional touch to the scene. Some of the women’s sunglasses feature tortoise frames and filigree decorations, while the men’s shades are colorful and fresh.
“Italianity” this is the leitmotiv of Italia Independent’s new Spring/Summer 2015 collection, entitled Italian Portraits. The company wants to celebrate Italian high-quality art and craftsmanship, so the campaign includes some symbolic figures of “Italianity”, such as designers, engineers or chefs, with the help of photographers Pierpaolo Ferrari and Alberto Zanetti.
